Currently the Resident Composer for the American Studio Orchestra, Jacob Yoffee is a concert & film composer based in Los Angeles.  He is currently scoring season 2 of MTV's hit drama Finding Carter and recently worked on the trailer campaign for Star Wars : The Force Awakens

He is known for his work on Showtime’s ‘Time of Death’ series, Delirium, starring Emma Roberts and the WIGS series Blue, Christine & Celia, directed by Rodrigo Garcia and starring Julia Stiles, Dakota Fanning & America Ferrera.

In 2012 he formed OtherWorld Trailer Music with mixing engineer, Adam Schmidt. He has worked on the trailer campaigns for Star Wars : The Force Awakens, The Hobbit : Desolation of Smaug, X-Men : Days of Future Past & The Chronicles of Riddick.

As a feature film composer Jacob has scored over twenty feature-length projects and has worked in drama, action, comedy, animation and horror. Recently he scored Pawn, an action-thriller starring Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker, Ray Liotta, Michael Chiklis & Common and A Resurrection, a horror picture starring Mischa Barton, Devon Sawa and the late-great Michael Clarke Duncan.

In 2011 he worked with director Joel Soisson (Dracula 2000, Piranha 3DD) scoring his Children of the Corn : Genesis for the Weinstein Company. That same year brought Olive - the first feature film that was shot entirely on a cellphone. Starring Gena Rowlands (The Notebook, Skeleton Key) the film also features four original songs by Dolly Parton.

He works regularly with Sherpas Cinema, most notably ‘Into the Mind’ an award-winning concept feature oscillating between dream & reality that follows an extreme skier as he grapples with the concept of risk vs. reward.

Jacob's concert music has been performed in several cities in the US as well as abroad at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, the Royal Academy of Music and on BBC Radio. Also a performer, Jacob was signed to Inner Circle Music Records in 2007, releasing his debut album, "Dead Reckoning." The album's release concert garnered an article featuring Yoffee in the New York Times as well as the cover of Saxophone Journal magazine.

He holds degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Composition &  Jazz Performance and a Master's degree from New York University where he studied with Ira Newborn, Sonny Kompanek and Deniz Hughes. While at Peabody he studied with composers Morris Moshe Cotel, Christopher Theofanidis and the saxophone legend, Gary Thomas. In May 2012 he was awarded 'Outstanding Recent Graduate' from Johns Hopkins University.

For many of the films I've worked on I've produced what I call "hybrid scores" - which are musical scores that combine both live orchestral recordings and synthesized elements. Scores are prepared to an almost complete state using MIDI sample libraries and then certain layers are replaced (or doubled) with live players to give it that final touch. Samples are great, but there's nothing like real musicians!
